A gem hidden in Sheung Wan’s Upper Lascar Row, or Cat Street, Popsy nestles amongst antique dealers, curio merchants, art galleries and small eateries. This quaint neighbourhood, once occupied by outlaws and Indian “lascars” of the British military during the city’s colonial period, gradually developed into a marketplace of antiques, second-hand goods and, infamously, stolen items. Enshrouded in mystery and history, The Popsy Room has taken up discreet residence amongst the marketplace stalls. A lair hidden from public view, yet visible to the audacious and adventurous.
